Role Overview:
The Accounts Officer will be responsible for ensuring accurate management and reporting of fixed assets, supporting capital expenditure processes, and maintaining compliance with financial policies and standards. The role involves close collaboration with both finance and operational teams to ensure the integrity of asset-related records across offices, showrooms, and network sites.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure adherence to fixed asset policies and procedures.
Assign tag numbers and maintain accurate records for all fixed assets.
Prepare cost estimates for capital expenditure (Capex) projects.
Record additions, disposals, and transfers of fixed assets.
Track assets under construction and monitor project cost capitalization.
Review and post depreciation entries in line with accounting standards.
Reconcile the fixed asset register with the general ledger.
Prepare provisions and estimates for asset retirement obligations.
Conduct periodic physical verification of assets across locations.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies identified during asset counts.
Coordinate the disposal or sale of obsolete or redundant assets.
Provide support to accounts payable and other finance functions as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or partial completion of ACCA Level 2.
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a finance-related position.
Strong knowledge of fixed asset management will be considered an advantage.
